Danny Brooks

Canadian Soul singer songwriter Danny Brooks, from Toronto Canada and now residing in Llano Texas, grew up on his mother’s Hank Williams records, and Reverend Jumpin’ Jim Jericho’s gospel music. Raised in a “God fearing” home, Brooks went through a downward spiral for 20 years before coming clean at the Donwood Rehabilitation Clinic in 1987. Overcoming his demons, Brooks has been recognised in being nominated for Junos, Maple Blues Awards, GMA & Shai Awards. Brooks received the Ontario Ministry of the Solicitor General and Correctional Services Community Services Award for his prison volunteerism.
Brooks is active in USA prison and halfway house volunteerism and was recently ordained as a minister with the Gospel Crusade Ministerial Fellowship in the USA. Miracles For Breakfast is a published account of his remarkable story and a testament to the human spirit in overcoming the impossible. Brooks continues to record and tour, with recent involvement in Garth Hudson’s Canadian Celebration of The Band, being one of his career highlights.
“Listening to Danny Brooks is like driving out of Memphis, TN on a sunny Saturday morning into the Mississippi Delta listening to WDIA.” states Greg Martin of the Kentucky Headhunters. “It’s one of those things where time stands still. A dash of Eddie Hinton, Solomon Burke, Rev. James Cleveland and Howlin’ Wolf are all ingredients in Danny’s soulful musical stew”.
