Hugh McPherson

Hugh McPherson“Music is my passion and it always has been” says Hugh McPherson, of Toronto music blog The Sound of Pop. “I think there is such power in finding that perfect song. Music can be used to connect people, encourage a good time, help the tears flow, or spread an important message and no matter what; where words fail, music speaks.” The Sound of Pop was created to help share that power of music, and to challenge the notion that pop is just the 40 songs you hear on mainstream radio.

NXNE is a great festival that brings the scattered indie music scene together. Hugh created this Mediazoic playlist to bring together a showcase of some favourites of The Sound of Pop deserving of the spotlight and the chance to be listened to by your ears. Just click the ‘Play’ button in the tuner below to treat yourself.

“There is so much great music out there that needs to be heard.” Hugh adds. “I believe that if you are able to find a band or that one song you enjoy or can connect with then you have to share that connection with everyone that will listen. The Sound of Pop loves being able to promote new talent and new music but also share the latest and greatest mainstream hits.”
