Rick Hoffman
Rick Hoffman makes psychedelic music exclusively because of the enjoyment he gets from playing. He has done so for enough years that he can actually say that he was around when the “psychedelic genre” first appeared. Unlike some others from “the day”, he has survived (!) and continues to play very much in a style that favours multi-layered tracks of guitars and keyboards mixed with ephemeral vocals. He played in local bands in high school, was a jamming musician in his college years and has recorded hundreds of songs in his home studio since 1987, occasionally collaborating with other musicians. The term prolific doesn’t even being to describe Rick. He has recorded over 500 hours of raw tracks, assembled 7 complete albums and even had some “Internet chart success” on music web sites from time to time. Rick has also been a lifetime visual artist with a portfolio of hundreds of paintings. He typically has some visual reference or idea for most of his audio concepts. Many of his songs are available in multi-media form as animated videos with audio sound tracks. These are typically made from backgrounds taken from his art, then enhanced with Photoshop to create a visual and audio narrative. The result provides the viewer with an imaginary world unique to Rick’s Vision.
Rick’s art and music are extensively showcased on his website at http://rickhoffmanart.com.
