Sarah GadonCatch Sarah Gadon on the red carpet and as one of the presenters for this year’s Genie Awards – Thursday, March 8 @ 8pm on CBC – hosted by George Stroumboulopoulos and Andrea Martin. Sarah appeared with Keira Knightley, Viggo Mortensen and Michael Fassbender in David Cronenberg’s A Dangerous Method, which has 11 Genie nominations this year including Best Picture; Achievement in Direction (David Cronenberg) and Achievement in Music – Original Score (Howard Shore).

On her station this month, Sarah showcases a part of the film’s soundtrack – Siegfried Idyll by composer Richard Wagner – adapted for the film A Dangerous Method by Howard Shore and performed by world renowned concert pianist Lang Lang. Wagner composed the piece in 1869 as a birthday present to his wife after the birth of their son Siegfried. Some musicologists have credited Wagner with the birth of modern music. Sarah was part of the Toronto International Film Festival’s Rising Stars Program, with two films screening at the 2011 festival (A Dangerous Method and Moth Diaries). Sarah has a busy 2012 ahead, including the premiere of David Cronenberg’s hotly anticipated Cosmopolis starring Robert Pattinson, Brandon Cronenberg’s feature film debut Antiviral and the epic World Without End (sequel to Pillars of the Earth). Sarah currently divides her time between film sets and academics as a Cinema Studies student at the University of Toronto and tweets at @sarahgadon.
