Veteran Radio Personality Rudy Blair In As RadioMogul’s Voice of Santa Claus
Seasonal in-store radio spots utilize “legendary broadcasting chops” of long-time 680 News reporter to complement changeover to Christmas music
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: November 25, 2019 (Toronto, ON). Humber College Radio Broadcasting Hall Of Fame Inductee and 16-time Radio-Television News Directors Association award winner Rudy Blair has a new gig. He’s Santa Claus.
“C’mon, a Christmas playlist DJ'd by Santa Claus while folks take a break from holiday shopping to chow down”, enthuses Rudy “What radio person wouldn’t want that gig!”
During this time of year, many stores incorporate Christmas music into their in-store radio programming, with selections ranging from traditional favourites, to indie Christmas tunes, to - erm - Christmas-themed hair metal.
Rudy has been hired by Toronto-based music and tech company MEDIAZOIC as the voice of Kris Kringle through the company’s #RadioMogul solution. Companies like Quesada Burritos like to mix in a healthy dose of holiday favourites to help with that holiday spirit. This year, their customers will hear a voice from the North Pole, acting as a kind of “Christmas music deejay” to holiday favourites playing the the restaurants.
“We love the Holiday Season. This year we are Sharing the Joy with brand new festive flavours, combining cranberry sauce, a traditional holiday favourite with our made fresh daily Mexican salsas.” says Quesada CEO Steve Gill.
Fun and festive, with a distinctly Canadian flavour, from Santa stuck in city traffic to his own “honey do” list from Mrs. Claus, the spots are being offered by MEDIAZOIC free of charge, as an optional “holiday treat” to its clients.
Though this will be a debut for Rudy in stores, it won’t be the first time his well-known voice has been lent to #RadioMogul clients.
“We truly enjoyed our partnership.” said Casino Rama Resort’s Natasha Borutski, who worked with Rudy and the MEDIAZOIC team on the on-demand radio show Vinyl Avenue, “Rudy is an amazing storyteller...a broadcast veteran.”
Royalties to rightsholders of the music are paid out as per MEDIAZOIC’s agreements with licensing agencies in Canada (Re:Sound, SOCAN, etc.).
“Rudy totally works as the voice of Santa Claus” says MEDIAZOIC CEO Greg Nisbet, who cooked up the initial idea for the seasonal promotion. “His many fans already know that smooth tenor of his comes from a jolly, giving soul. Very small step from there to becoming our official St. Nick.”
